Overview

The Middle Tennessee ISSA Chapter promotes the Information Security profession through the education of its members and interaction with the community. Through community interaction and partnerships, the Chapter seeks to help educate all residents of Middle Tennessee in safe and responsible use of the Internet.

To help facilitate this goal, Middle Tennessee ISSA has partnered with i-SAFE, Inc., the leader in Internet safety education. Chapter members are certified in Internet safety awareness and actively help other community groups develop Internet safety training and awareness within their organizations.

Current Activities

The Middle Tennessee ISSA Chapter supports the implementation of Internet safety training through Williamson County Schools (WCS) by sponsoring an annual community education program founded in i-SAFE curricula. Members of the Williamson County community representing parents, grandparents and interested parties attending the program learn ways to support safe use of Internet resources outside the school setting. This annual program supports the ongoing WCS Internet Safety Curriculum for K-12 students and teachers.

Chapter members recently introduced the i-SAFE program to Middle Tennessee Council, Boy Scouts of America at the Council’s VIP (Volunteer Information and Planning) meetings. ISSA members are acting as facilitators to help troops that wish to introduce the i-SAFE safety program into troop activities or individual merit badge activities.
